Deoxycholic acid placed into areas such as a double chin via multiple injections. The goal is to break down the fat cell wall and liquefy it so that it is then cleared by the lymphatic system. Final results can take up to 3 to 4 months and are permanent.
Ice will be applied to the area to ease any discomfort. A marking grid will be applied to the skin after alcohol is used to cleanse it. Multiple injections are then placed into the subcutaneous fat. Procedure typically takes 15 to 20 minutes. Typically requires 2-3 vials for the initial session. May need 2-3 sessions spaced 1 month apart for desired look.
Bleeding, bruising and burning are quite common. The burning may last up to 1 to 2 hours after the procedure. Applying ice does help post procedurally. Swelling will absolutely occur and should be expected and can be quite severe in some cases depending on the amount of fat that is treated. This typically resolves over the next two weeks.
